Convert Analog camera to IP

Hi,
I have 4 Analog Hikvision cameras on BNC/12v cables to an a Hikvision NVR. I have installed 3 Reolink IP cameras on ethernet and intend to buy a Reolink NVR to record these cameras. I can't upgrade the cabling to the 4 x HK cameras to ethernet (under permanent flooring) so is there an option to convert analog to digital on the coax or to replace the 4 x HK cameras with reolink and use the existing coax into a PoE switch. Looking for products to do this.

Ive only used the veracity highwires, u will need 1 per cable and they are not the cheapest lol. Haydon worth a try at 20 quid
 
Please let us know what you end up using. There seem to be a range of products out there. 100 Mbit ethernet over *two* coax cables, without power, should be very easy for a modest range.

1. What HIK DVR/ HVR do you have now?
(Some DVRs have IP channels on top of there analogue ones).
2. What Reo and HIK, cameras do you have and how many?
3. As you have a HIK DVR, is this connected to your network?

You can add analogue cameras to an NVR, via the up address of the DVR/NCR using command lines.

Converting analogue signals to it can be done, but if your not upgrading your analogue HIK cameras to IP you might not need to right now.

You need to check what protocols the Reolink NVRs accept.

Hi Secureiam, thanks for your additional help with this.

The answers to your questions:

1. HiLook DVR-204G-F1
2. 1x Reolink Video Doorbell PoE (V1 Version), 2 x Reolink FE-P, 4x GV503T1080p-WF (thought they were Hik)
3. The DVR-204G-F1 is connected to the network.
The DVR and the 4 x GV503T were already installed when we moved here and have been fairly adequate.

What I'm trying to do is have all of the cameras on the same NVR/DVR. I'm guessing that the Reolink FE-P cameras will need the RLN36 (or similar NVR) to be able to view the image correctly and I won't be able to easily run ethernet cable to the location of the existing GV503T cameras.

The plan is to replace the GV503T cameras with Reolink cameras. One is outdoor and the other 3 are indoor. They all have BNC/Coax and a 12V supply. I could probably ditch the PoE requirement as I can reuse the 12V part of the existing cables. I would only then have to find an ethernet over coax (EoC) converter to connect new cameras to the network. I guess another alternative would be to power the new cameras via the 12V and connect to the network via WiFi.

What are your thoughts?

Can you provide a picture of the cables for the analougue cameras including termination

The cable is important, concerned it will be very thin and poor quality and won’t be up to much.

But if your really lucky, they have wired in cat5 and use baluns and in that case you may be looking at determination of the ends. If they have used coax and it’s decent quality it is probably okay to convert to ip.

If they are on coax the quality of the cable needs looking at before you spend money on converting to ip which is possible, but poor quality cable may cause you issues especially as you increase the camera resolution, putting power down as separate 12V may help if the cable is poor.

Not a fan of wifi for CCTV.

See a lot of installs where cat5 and baluns used and see a lot more of the lower end analogue cameras in pre made super thin cables,
