Hi Guys,

Doing some research on converting my garage/car port...

as you can see from the below pic it has a full tiled roof and garage door, however on the back is just a gate leading to the garden i.e. no back wall to fully enclose as a garage

It currently has a full concrete floor and electrics, however I was wondering what would actually be required to...

A) Convert to a separate living space
B) Convert to a living space and knock the side door from the house to garage through to extend the kitchen!

Obviously I'm going to seek advice from a few local builders in my area but am going to wait till the new year!

Ultimately I'm looking to extend the kitchen out side ways, brick up the front of the garage and include a window and install doors on the back

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

It looks as though your garage wall is shared with your neighbour because it is built right on the boundary. This will mean you need the full cooperation of your neighbour due to the "party wall act", this gives both you and him responsibilities. I can only suggest that you search the building regs forum here, to figure out what to do. This could affect the fire rating of the side wall.
