Hi

Would appreciate some advice on whether i can convert my garage to make space for a pool table and what the costs might look like.

I am thinking i can remove the bricks from the side of the wall (pictured) and then put bi-fold doors in it, so i can open the doors to allow sufficient space to utilise the cue properly.

The garage of course would also need to be sealed so no moisture can get in and ruin the table.

Any thoughts on if this would be possible and costs, or alternative solutions, is appreciated.

Thanks!

If it works it works but do you really want a room that can only be used in warm weather? Consider some kind of lean to to make up the extra space

I reckon clearance at the top for a lintel that can span that far might be tight, or a faff with the fascia in place etc. from a quick count of brick courses above dpc

is it single skin? Would need to think how you’d finish the inside around where the inside of the frame lands…

it's a single width of bricks... if thats what we mean by "single skin" :)

yeh, theres a lot to think about... might make sense to get someone to look at it... but i was keen for a ball park figure to open it up and make it workable...
if its 20k then i'll not even look further... if its 10k, then i'd think about it

It would be worth thinking about making the piers formed at the new doorway 9inch brickwork. It's standard to have at least 9inch piers both sides of the garage doors.

It ain’t going to be 20k unless you’re building a new garage. Can’t see it being north of 10k either from what’s been discussed so far.
