Hi All,

Can anybody point me in the direction of a guide or provide information on what planning or building regulations I will need to adhere to if i were to partially convert my integral garage (approx 60/40) myself. The garage door will remain with sufficient space to open (up and over) and there is a door already in place which will be in the new 'living space' leading outside.

I don't plan to have a door between the garage and the living space if that makes any difference.

TIA.

EDIT: Just realised this is in the wrong part of the forum. How do I get it moved or notify a moderator to do it? Sorry

This site http://www.carryduffdesigns.co.uk/conversions/garage-conversions.html gives a fairly rounded view of what you need to do in terms of the Building Regs. Have a trawl through and then come back with any specific questions.

With regards to Planning you probably won't need to apply although a quick phone call to check with your local planning department is prudent and very cheap. http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/england/public/buildingwork/projects/workcommongarageconversion/
