we have a stoves newhome cooker gas hob electric oven. the oven doesn't regulate the temprature when its on its on hot. we presume its the thermostat. any ideas if we are going down the right track before we look in to getting one. dont want to buy a new stove as we plan on renavating the kitchen when funds allow.
model is a classic DF 50 059053403 (001721)
any ideas of the best place to buy?

when you say hot , how hot
put it on a low temp , ie 100c and see how hot it gets ,
could be a temperature limiter or thermostat depending on what happens.
is it clean around the thermostat sensor in the oven

we used a thermometer and set the oven to the lowest setting 80 degrees and the thermometer was showing 160. Although this may not of been entirely accurate.
It has a indicator lght that iluminates while it is reaching tempratire and it has started to come on sometimes even though the oven dial is off and the oven is starting to heat. I have been been leaving it switched off at the socket.

thank you for your help.

Could be the oven selector and or temperature controller if it is coming on when switched off.

as leccy says , it looks like an electrical component has worn out

need to eliminate parts as you go

for thermostat
switch on to 100c . see if light goes off at approx 100c . if so thermostat is probably good

the bit where you wrote
"It has a indicator lght that iluminates while it is reaching tempratire and it has started to come on sometimes even though the oven dial is off and the oven is starting to heat"

does this mean the oven comes on completely by itself or just the light ???? - if so it will be the switch where you normally switch the oven on
