Oh no he doesn't want functionality. It has to look pretty.
Hive, Nest, Honeywell etc spend a lot on R & D. Hence the price tags.

I can't understand why some people have a problem with wanting something that works AND looks good?
That doesn't mean it has to cost a fortune - it just means offer it in something other than white with a blue light.
I want functionality - of a thermostat. I don't need it to turn the kettle on and make me a cup of tea whilst cycling the lights through a display that would look at home in Vegas.
But if you like the 80's look you are certainly well catered for.
