From a homeowners point of view - which is the better product, Copper or Speedfit?

Please can I have some opinions and reasons for opinions?

Many thanks

Copper every time. Can't be chewed by mice, doesn't just rely on an o-ring to seal - once a joint is made it stays made, looks nicer, easier to pressure test, more heat-resistant (I've seen the result of a boiler overheating and bursting plastic pipe - not pretty)

Copper creaks. Does plastic creak?

Can plastic be placed in the wall and then plastered over or does it need any special barrier before plastering?

Correct installation is the key.
If not binding on something.....there is nothing to creak!!

Copper, copper copper .....cccccccooppppperrrrrrrr....lasty long long time :)

I've just replaced a whole upper conversion cause the chap thought he was getting copper a while back, turns out it was all plastic, he never checked and it was just laid all over the place.

Both have their merits I guess, installation speed in older houses mostly for plastic but my choice if asked to recommend, is always copper.

Copper for me, plastic has its uses but I prefer to keep its use to a minimum.
