Hi. I would like to lay a new cork tiled floor in a kitchen over the top of a very solid but old cork floor. The initial plan in renovating the kitchen was to keep the floor but the position of some units are changing so there is a colour difference due to fading plus stains in some areas. I was wondering if is possible to just use cork/parquet adhesive on top of the existing tiles, seems too easy to be true? Does anyone have advice on whether it is best to use a sander or solvent to remove the sealant (no idea what it is) or best to leave the floor undisturbed and hope the adhesive bonds to what is already there? It doesn't seem to make sense to strip back to a 200 year old floor screen plus double the insulating benefit if existing tiles remain!!
