Hi,
Can anyone please explain why this cylinder is corroding in my airing cupboard and what it does? The system is only 5 years old.
Thanks, Chris

It is an expansion vessel and part of your boiler, as the system heats up the vessel takes take`s the expansion pressure, can`t say why it looks like it does but everything only last so long, good news is it won`t cost an arm and a leg to replace it.

Great. What do I search for? Can I replace it myself? I’m pretty good at diy etc?

looks like an expansion vessel attached to an unvented hot water cylinder,if it is ask your service agent who does your periodic unvented cylinder servicing for advice.

diy may be not :( but get it fixed.

I`m not sure tbh, as it is part of a pressurised system so may come under being gas safe registered, let`s see what others say shall we.

I'd hurry if I were you. Turn the water off when you're not using it too. Next phase is mopping up flood water.

What cylinder is it attached to? If it came with that you might be lucky and still covered by warranty! Worth a try - send photo of the EV to the UV cylinder supplier.
