Hi, i am having a ceiling re plasterboarded and skimmed , my builder as asked me to purchase all the materials for the job , ie light fitting ,tiles, plasterboard, paint . I am quite happy doing this and the builder will pick up the plaster board for me (he is getting it delvered c o d ). . My room is aprox 4x4 metres rroughly what would i be looking to pay for the plasterboard and skimming plaster , i would ask him myself but he is on holiday with is wife and kids . I am just trying to work out my budget . Any help would be apreciated . Thanks

I would pay £3.50 for 12.5mm 1200x2400 boards and £3.40 /bag for board finish.

What you or the plaster pays may be a lot different

BTW what are the tiles for if you are doing a ceiling?

Thanks for the reply , the tiles are for behind the cooker , i had a major water burst and it ran down the wall behind the tiles and the walls are being repainted so it is easier to replace the exsisting ones , even the insurance company recomended it .

am i reading this right?its an insurance job and your supplying the materials??????

Thats correct, in with the quote the builder quoted for is time and one for materials he gave us a like for like price for a light fitting tiles etc and said we c ould add our own money if we wanted to get a better light fitting ie the light fitting is a standard tube type at a cost of around £25 so he said we could get one of those or add £25 and get a nicer light fitting or stick with a standard light and he will just charge the same , same for tiles ,paint . I thought the builder was being very accomodating and the insurance seemed ok with it .
