Cost of Unvented Cylinder and System Boiler Installation

Who fitted the rads and how was the pipework tested?

Not many engineers will be very happy fitting things that you have supplied!

If I were to agree to fit what you bought then my over the phone prices are £840 for fitting boiler and £460 for fitting an unvented cylinder.

Tony

You will see that my budgetary quote is very much in line with information others have given you.

But its normal to commission the boiler when its connected to the heating system.

Part of the installation process is to clean the radiator system! How can that be done when its capped off?

Thanks guys. I will proceed to obtaining quotes. I was persevering on here as someone asked me for further information earlier in the day.

3 days labour if using a level and proper screw clips, 1 1/2days using nail in clips & pipe bends using a spring, towel and knee.

Thanks. Is it too simplistic of me to translate that to around £1200 labour?

I'd think you'd have to ask several companies before finding one willing to take on this job. It's not the sort of work that companies like as the opportunity to make any profit at all is removed. Your best bet would be a weekender or a youngster looking for a bit extra.
I certainly wouldn't entertain it for as little as £1200.
Don't take this the wrong way but most guys don't like being screwed down to a bare minimum, most want a little bit of meat left on the bone.
The days of getting a superb job for buttons are gone, guys that are good are busy and would swerve this like the plague.

I'm not a plumber, but do work along side them often.

Man and boy £400 a day, 3 day fit with everything in situ minor works to location.

Add £400 for controls

Add £300 for power flushing

Add £500 if gas main pipe isn't large enough

Add £200 for a magna type filter

Add down time when they discover required kit isn't on site, that the flu needs extension or knuckles.

Area by area cost change, so the above means nothing.

Cost changes will be unavoidable since you intend to do all the material procurement (you will miss items).

Get 3 quotes, same design, same manufacture- get the quotes as supply and fit, and fit only.

That's a job to be swerved.

I wonder if the OP's boss at work is having a conversation about how they can share this guys responsibilities out to his colleagues so that he can be paid less at the end of the week.

OP, I'm finishing work this Wednesday and I'm not going back to the 4th. Its the only time Ive had off holiday wise since the Easter weekend.

my business still needs to pay my holiday, pay for the 10 days that the van sits there for whilst I'm on holiday.

Just digest that please..............

Don't you know?

Vans only need to be charged for the journey to the customer at 45p per mile.

They are totally free when just parked and not used at all.

Just like the bus really!

Tony, I luv you mate but theres time you don't half come out with some crap statementso_O
Edit, or did you mean that tongue in cheek?

I was just setting out the customer's viewpoint !

Which is invariably wrong on most things so largely meaningless. 45P a mile is a load of twaddle mate... try 55p. Which adds up when you do 30 - 40 thousand a year.
