My grandson (aged:cool:has a set of metal framed bunk beds although to be honest, they were only used as a pair of beds 'once in a blue moon'

Now our daughter is trying to make more room in his bedroom and has asked whether it would be possible to adapt this bunk bed into a single high bed.

Is this possible ?

It would simply mean removing the lower bed altogether, leaving four high posts to support the top bed.

thank you for any advice provided

I can't see anything particularly wrong with your proposal, but do consider that the lower bunk frame will be adding strength and stability to the existing structure and removing it therefore may make it somewhat unstable.
Can you give us a pic or two of the existing bare frame?
John :)

You can remove he front bar but then need a new full length ladder which hangs off the frame (about £20 on eBay)
