Could you/would you run a plug socket off this?

Lights are not wired on rings.
What not even this one?

I forgot to mention winston1 will offer a comment which can be totally ignored
Additionally lighting circuits can be rings, again there is no restriction and they are sometimes wired that way.

I've told you before. DO NOT tell people to ignore other members.

The ring circuit was never designed or required for lighting circuits. Just because you found one does not make it right.

What was the ring circuit designed for then?
Don't offer incorrect advice and we will not need to contradict you.

Sunray is right to advise people that some comments / information posted on this forum may be factually wrong.

There are reasons why some lighting installations should be wired as a ring final.

Neither is it wrong nor the only lighting ring I've worked on.

That is a possible solution to preventing overload but first make sure the 13 Amp plug is not a compact power supply unit.
I did and it isn't. Had you read all the thread especially post number 3 you would know that.

As a long standing Sparks I am surprised that you don't know that. Search these forums and you will find the answer.
I do know the history of the ring circuit but from your frequent posts on the matter it is quite apparent that you don't. The correct information doesn't seem to appear in this forum so I'll ask you, winston1, again what you think the ring was designed for?
That is not the same as telling people to ignore people that are factually right.
Oh I see now, you think you can correct posters and tell them to ignore others when you think you're right.
But no one is allowed to correct you or tell others to ignore you when you are wrong.

I see, it's getting clear now, it's all about you.

Sunray doesn't claim to be a long standing Spark, but I'm sure he knows the history of the ring final circuit. There are legitimate reasons for installing lights as a ring. Just because this is new to you does not make it wrong.

The only indication that it is likely to provide 230 Volts is the size of the cable. That is not proof that it is just a 13 Amp plug.

I disagree.
You have the freedom to disagree, but consider the possibility that the people you disagree with may be far more experienced and knowledgeable than you are.
