Couple of questions on water softeners

1) Should one have a separate hard water connection to the toilet?
2) Will a 'high flow' softener have a noticable impact on the pressure? At the moment I have a megaflo system which give great flow/pressure

1 not the WC - but you might like to take one to basin cold for drinking @ night ... 2 might be OK but check with the 2 manufacturers
