Can anyone explain how these cousin things work i.e what relation is my cousin's children to my children etc.

As it happens I found three cousins via genes re-united...from my fathers side.
I knew I had them and tried to trace them a few times...really nice speaking to them and finding out they are more or less the same tpye of people as me (poor *******s!!)

I think I understand how it works. It goes like this - You and Paul are first cousins. Paul's son (Peter) is second cousin to your son (John). When Peter and John have children, these children will be third cousins to each other.
You are a first cousin once removed to Peter, as Paul is to John. And so it goes on. First, second, third cousins (etc) are on the same step of the ladder (i.e. generation) as each other. When cousin(s) are on different steps to each other the once/twice removed come into play.
I think that is right but I am open to correction !

That`s where my ancestors are from .The F family are prolific there...but not too many in Sussex
