Hi,

Only my second post so pleas be kind!

My house has 12 old downlights which had 60w incandescent spot bulbs (came with the house when we bought it). The loft insulation had been upgraded with a gap around these in the loft. I've now put 9w CFL bulbs in and am thinking of laying insulation over the gaps (as much less heat is produced). Is this sensible or a bad idea?

I've been looking for advice but everything seems to be about fire breaks or halogen downlights.

Thanks. Any tips greatly appreciated. :?

You will still need to leave space for ventilation/cooling as per the manufacturer's (of the fittings) instructions.
