I don't know what the total cost of Covid and Covid prevention measures will be. But so far over 1M people died from it and probably at least 1/3rd died who would not have otherwise died. If a chemical plant released a toxic cloud that killed 300,000 people., we'd expect there to be lawsuits and compensation. BP for example were nearly bankrupted with fines and compensation claims when they had an environmental leak.
According to the US - it's pretty clear that Covid was a lab leak and not a natural occurrence. As one of the most seriously affected countries [from covid] they may have a compensation agenda. But it does ask the question. Should china pay for the damage?
China has massively benefited from Covid, when compared to other countries from an economical point of view.
