Hello, I have a question regarding this crack in my Artex ceiling.

It has been present since we moved in 6 months ago, however wanted to see whether to repair we would need to rip the whole ceiling down and redo, or whether something else can be done to prevent it from getting any worse overtime?

Thank you

I am not sure it that is artex, it looks like stipple roller paint. It really tricky to fill textured ceilings as you can always see it. If its a bedroom then from above you could add extra support for that area and then put screws each side of the crack. scrape out loose plaster from the crack and fill with a flexible paint able filler. trying not to get any on the surrounding texture. Possibly re paint the whole celling with textured paint.
Or just fill with a flexible filler and call it job done ?

What's above the ceiling? No point trying to repair or fill it if there is something above causing a problem. If it's the loft for example, is a leak causing the board to sag? I had a rude experience of this myself!!
