Hi Everyone

I have just bought a multimedia entertainment computer as my old one died, the new one has an intel core 2 quad processor which sounds very impressive, it runs vista home premium.
When I try to install my creative sound blaster live to give the option of using 5.1 surround sound from the original cd which I have had since 2002 , it lets me choose the language and then lets me check box the sound blaster live option, it should then give me the option to click the ok box, but it is not there.

Can I download drivers from the creative website to solve this problem,
Will I ever be able to run surround sound through the system, I did ask the sales person if it had a decent sound card but never thought there would be a problem using 5.1 surround sound.

Any advice would be truly appreciated.

It is not surprising that 2002 drivers do not work with VIsta. I would strongly suggest that you visit the Creative website find your card type and download the specific drivers.

Couple of links here offering creative drivers - but you should check that they are correct for your particular card

The other option is to ditch Vista and upgrade to XP :D

try windows update

failing that

that card is very old now latest driver update being from 2004
but you should be able to get it to work

try manualy installing the driver

(this isnt a step by step guide as i don't use vista cos it's crap tbh )

open device manager

find device that has not driver installed

right click it and click update don't let it use windows update to find the driver

point it to the cd drive

it should then install the basic driver

go to creative update

download the latest patch for the driver the 2004 version

and it should be ok then

Thanks everyone for your advice, I will give it a try and let you know what happens, I do agree with lee786 that vista isn't brilliant.

Thanks again
