Does anyone have experience with these?

I have semn a second hand one for sale, but I don't want the tenant to use the day units. If you wire up the unit for the restriocyted night supply, will it just work simply as a storage heater without having to wire up the unrestricted supply for the fan boost?

yes.

This is a combi storage heater and boost fan heater, not a fan-assisted storage heater which requires the fan to output stored heat.
