Cricket sound coming from my Renault Scenic

Hello
For the past week or so I have been getting a strange sound coming from my Renault Scenic - it sounds like a cricket (yes the insect kind) and gets louder periodically. The sound totally disappears if I press the brake.

Any advice on what this could be would be great

Warped brake disk? or stone stuck in tyre tread? Maybe a faulty belt in the engine? Maybe lack of oil?

I think you need to get the front disc pads checked in case the friction material is starting to delaminate from the metal backing. At the same time, the front discs can be checked for evidence of cracking.

Its not when you go round a corner, Mark is it?

Usually the CV joint if it is, otherwise a brake issue as above.

No it doesn't seem to happen/get worse when going around a corner. But thanks for the information.
