Customer called tonite saying she turned the hot water on and it wouldn't turn off, I was just setting g off to go and look at it then she called and said her son had turned the mains stoptap off and then she was able to turn off the hot tap,
Very strange, has anyone had this or have an idea of what the problem is?

Hi,
Yes, you are correct, I went out and removed the on / off cartridge and found the debris in the photo behind the cartridge, it's a large piece of brass. I removed the lump of brass and refitted the cartridge, valve worked OK and the following day customer messaged saying that the valve is passing and there's a drip coming out of the bath filler, obviously the debris has caused damage to the ceramic disk. Returning Thursday hopefully with replacement cartridge to put it to bed.

It was from the casting or machining of the valve body. Bloody annoying that it will have cost me two extra visits over what I priced for.

Thanks for sharing this. It was a timely reminder for me to thoroughly flush my pipes through before fitting my new shower bar.

Yeah, it's good to flush the pipes but in this case it was brass trapped inside the valve, about the size of half a 1p coin so no amount of flushing of pipes would have removed it.

I taken it they wouldn’t reimburse under the warranty?

Customer is making a warranty claim, I purchased a replacement cartridge straight away £18 free delivery, which i thought was reasonable im awaiting its delivery, I'm going back Thursday to swap it, if the customer is successful in the warranty claim she will have a spare for the future. I just want to put the job to bed.
