Crowded skies over the Uk.

I found an app called Flightradar24.

You'd be absolutely amazed at the amount of aircraft in the skies at any one time.

A great app for those interested.

Already got it, but only the free version (I'm a Yorkie).

I've had that app for a couple of years now. We have great fun with it at work, having guessing games as to where a plane might be going to, or where it's coming from.
We watched a plane coming from the north, Dundee area and watched it flying overhead (Edinburgh). We were able to see that plane until it was ovewr Wales.
BTW, it was going from Aberdeen to Heathrow.
I have the Pro version. A geek at my work passed it over to me for free.

I used FlightRadar24 to follow the Canadian Lancaster along its route through Labrador, Greenland, Iceland etc before it landed at Conningsby in Lincolnshire.

It gives you altitude, air speed, rate of ascent/descent etc.
If you pick a plane and click the follow button it will keep track of it. But note: If you have the free version it will time you out every half hour. Simply click the refresh button and it will continue to track.

Been bookmarked in my favourites for a number of years now.

Thanks for that Conny, I was going to explore the options on individual flights but you've just answered my main questions, cheers.

Mines the free one too, and I'm a Yorkshire lad.

People think we're tight-fisted, but we're just careful with our money through generations of having to live in cardboard boxes.

Scots are tight-fisted.

If you view the flights in the USA you can hear the towers talking to the flight. When living in London with fast internet it was brilliant when tv was crap.
Now crap tv & even worse internet, oh the country life.

Flightradar24 also has a playback facility. If you set it to the day MH17 was shot down (July 17th) you can actually follow it on it's radar track from Amsterdam to it's final resting place near Donetsk. (offers different playback speeds and you can also filter the info to show departures/arrivals at any airport)

It did function up until a few weeks ago.

I had a similar problem with the auto trader app only 2 days ago whilst trying to show my pal a van I am buying. My phone couldn't access the site. He showed me how to go into the app settings and it(mobile data)was turned off which surprised me as I'd used it previously.

Worth a look in settings.

Thanks for that TP, he's now got it sorted, much appreciated, the cheques in the post..

We were at Eastbourne for the Thursday & Friday shows.

Got a cracking picture of them turning over the pier tower with the Spit & Hurricane in escort positions.

Double click the pic and see the rest of the album.
