We have rewired our property ourselves. At first fix this was signed of bu the LABC electrician. The next stage is for this to be connected up and the meter changed over.

LABC say we need to do all the work and their electrician will just test. Powergen state that the electrician must break the seals and we must not touch it. Who is correct can we do th work and leave it in the correct state for poergen to come and connect up the meter, etc?

TIA

Powergen should de-energise the supply for you to disconnect the old CU. If you have new tails already connected to the new CU ready for the meter change then call powergen out and they will fit the tails from the new CU to the meter and disconnect the old ones.

Some DNOs allow sparks to do the seal snipping themselves, and sphone up for a re-seal.

As the person doing the work, AdamGT3, you are the "electrician" they refer to. As long as you have a modern cutout, and there is no current running through it, pulling the fuse is relatively safe, and how would powergen find out who did it anyway? But if you have any doubts, dont do it, and insist on a visit from the DNO (its their property and their responsibility).

Tell them you have a dangerous live wire hanging off your meter, and small unsupervised children or something, that'll get them moving.
