Had a discussion with a guy about his extension a few months ago. One of those "if I put the cables in, can you connect" type of chats :x

I did the usual "probably, but would need to see everything going in and have a chat before, blah blah blah".

Just been to have a look.

The plank has put the cables in, done the dot and dabbing, and left STRIPPED twin and earth poking out of the plasterboard with no sheath in sight. It would appear his idea of second fix includes sinking the boxes into finished walls! Any why he stripped the cables in beyond me. Have politely declined this one.

------

And another message this morning. After a periodic inspection I said the garden sockets would best be disconnect and removed as they are all twin and earth clipped around garden walls and fences and buried in hosepipe etc. I then quoted to renew instead, but with less sockets, just enough for their pond needs.

The message this morning? "would it be cheaper to have one single socket instead of the three doubles?, we can put extension leads and adaptors in a plastic storage box".

Grr!

Lectrician, go and educate him about why that is a bad idea, while charging him your hourly rate

Then tell him, no its not going to be cheaper.

Dot and Dab Man will be fuming. He took your return as acceptance of the job. Now he feels you've let him down...

Hey Lec, you near Okehampton?

The guy did the dot and dabbing himself, not a bad job to be fair!

Really not getting involved in this job, it was a bloke I bumped into in a pub I was working at, not as if I will be bumping into him regularly! No guilt on my part!

Okehampton? An hour from me, but go quite often for various reasons, and just the other day on a maintenance call out. I was actually subbed to install the fire alarm at the Travelodge and Little Chef in the services at Okehampton some years back.

Only asked as I'll be at the Manor House Hotel near Okey next week.

I drive past that when I go over that way - I know where it is.

Holidaying or working?

In that case, Golitha Falls, Lydford Gorge, and the whole of Dartmoor are on your doorstep. Haytor Tor is well worth a climb - One of the best Tors to go to - regularly used for abseiling, and has carved steps to the top. Keep your dog on a lead, several have died there :-(

Personally, I think my sie of Devon is the best  Braunton, Saunton, Croyde, Woolacombe

Thanks Lec. I'll try and get to Ilsington & maybe the gorge too. Looks impressive & beautiful!

Ban: So if s/he would be on the list of fatalities?
