I am building a frame out of 3x2 timbers and then panelling it with featheredge boards. All of the wood neds to be cut to size and I would like to apply a preserver/sealer on all cut ends.

I came across this but it needs 12 hours to dry!

I was looking for something that I can smack on and carry on with the project. I'd appreciate any advice you can offer.

Thanks in advance

Jupiter01, good evening.

Is the 3X2 treated? if so the need for treating end grain reduces greatly.

I have used in the past at least two coats of the stain I was going to apply to the timber.

As an aside, if you have the time??? pre-coat the timber prior to assembly the reason is it is easier to apply a coat of [something] to several bits of timber when they are on a trestle in one large area "hit" rather than singly and when the timber is [sometimes] vertical.

I was also going to use something on the cut edge of the featheredge boards

Same for the Feather edges, and if you can same pre-cut / erection for ALL the faces of these boards.

BUT?? if you can do the Pre-Decoration ahead of fabrication, to allow the stain / paint, whatever to fully dry and firm to the touch

Solvent preservative in a bucket, dip the ends in for a couple of minutes or so, shake the excess off, carry on building.
