cutting a square out of tile

Ideally you want to use a diamond blade in an angle grinder. Start the cut from the tile face..... do as much as you can, then finish the cut from the back of the tile - easy.

You can also drill a hole at each corner and then use a tile saw threaded through the hole, using a tile file to smooth off the edges.
