Cutting 'live' pipe

I need to cut a section out of a ch pipe... Rather than using an old drain valve that I'm going to have problems doing up afterwards.... Is there anyway I can cut the pipe safely with it still full?!

I can't think of a way but no doubt it has been done (not just accidentally) and there is a neat trick to it?? Or maybe there isn't and I should just open the drain valve?

Thinking of drilling it first maybe?!

Don't do it live.

If you dont trust the drain cock, take a radiator off and use one of the valves to drain.

Once drained fit new drain off.

Drain down via a rad valve it would be easier and less costly than the potential damage that could be caused doing it live.

Cut it live but make sure you are recording it all on camcorder

Had a search for bungs but not really following. It's a sealed system....

if its a sealed system then just take the pressure off and cut in to it its not rocket science

OP dont get any easier close off any auto air vents release pressure and cut and solder to your heart is content

I took the pressure out the system, thought I had taken the pressure out the system by opening a radiator and then drilled the pipe....

Bit of a squirt of water but not too bad!!! The vacuum held it for a bit and then obviously broke and I had a bit of entertainment for a few minutes.

All sorted now, thanks for all your help.
