Cutting Scotia beading

Can anyone explain how you use the anvil you're off cutter to cut Scotia beading? I can't see a way to hold it securely while cutting which means it skews the cut.

They seem a bit flimsy, better to use a traditional mitre saw (hand tool version).

You will get a better finish using a fine tooth handsaw and mitre box or as blup suggests a Hand Mitre Saw, again with a fine tooth saw blade.
