This may not be in the correct section but here goes....

In a nutshell, I have to cut some laminate worktop [laminate covered chipboard type] as it is too wide.

Obviously, I want to avoid chipping the edges of the laminate where the cuts are.

What is the best method?

I have access to all the normal hand tools as well as jigsaw, circular saw and router.

I did consider a router bit to be best but the laminate bits appear to be 'trimmers' and not cutters. I would also assume that the use of a normal router cutter bit would chip the edges.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Many Thanks,

Belboz

If its just a straight cut a circular saw will be fine. BUT make sure you cut it with the finished face down to avoid splintering. If your blade on your saw has less than 18 teeth you may need to trim the cut edge with a router afterwards to clean it up.
