Hi, I've recently moved into a new house with a traditional heating system (header tank in loft, cylinder in airing cupboard, and boiler).
I'm having a problem in that the hot water cylinder won't turn off completely at all at the moment, even when the central heating is switched to 'off' at the controls. Switching the programmer to off will turn off all the radiators except the one in the bathroom which just keeps going forever and is very hot. Is there any way I can turn off the heating manually?
There are two switches on the wall next to the cylinder (one a normal plug socket and the other a fuse switch), but I don't know what switching these off will do – is it safe to try?
I don't want it to keep using up gas constantly, and the sound of it being on throughout the day and night is a little irritating. Any advice would be much appreciated! I've attached some images of the inside oft he cupboard with the cylinder if that helps.
Many thanks,
Peter
