Hello, my hot water cylinder is producing a rusty trickle from the top valve and has been leaking for a few days now (judging by the amount of wet towels!).

I have turned off the water feed to the house, turned off the 2 valves in the airing cupboard and ran the hot taps until empty.

I've put a call out for a plumber but in the meantime wondered the best route for putting the heating on. If I turn the water to the house back on but keep the airing cupboard valves switched off - can I run the boiler for the central heating?? or will this still cause damage?

You can still run the boiler with the water off.
The central heating water and hot water aren't linked.
