D-Link router

Ok-I've just checked the settings with the router attatched and all the fields except adapter address are blank-that is on both ethernet adaptors.

Ok, either your NIC or your router is not setup for DHCP or the NIC has been disabled.

Is the appropriate LAN light still lit? (1-4)

If so,

I suggest performing a factory reset of the router by pressing and
holding the reset button until the test light illuminates. Release the
button and wait until the router reboots. Try the ipconfig again.

You will lose your router AOL settings.

If not

Post back.

Success! I re-booted the router-went into the settings and I thought I would try PPPoA instead of PPPoE as aol said it should be,and it connected first time after that-to IE and to AOL-thanks for all your help-much appreciated-we got there in the end with a little patience and staying power. :D All i've got to do now is try to configure my second pc onto the router.

This is probably coincidence because PPPoE/A will have no bearing on the connectivity between PC and router.

Glad it's sorted though.
