Hi

Just noticed this circular crack suddenly appear on kitchen ceiling. Looks as though some type of plasterboard fixing is being exposed. Is it anything to be worried about?

Thank you.

Very common, the plaster has cracked around the screw used to fix the board up. Best thing to do is dig it out, refill, sand and paint.

looks as if a nail, or screw? has "popped"

For some reason the nail has moved / expanded / or been forced to push out above the surface of the plasterboard, in the action of moving the filler over the nail has been shoved outwards away from the surface of the plasterboard.

As for a "fix" ?

Gently pick off the filler on this bulge, make sure there is a nail head under it [if not All the above is rubbish???]

Re-fill, sand. fill and smooth of re-decorate the entire ceiling.

Ken.
