Hi

Hopefully someone can help! I've recently had an extension done and had a new kitchen fitted inside it. The floor is a concrete screed and was left to dry for about 8 weeks, I also did a dampness test and this came out ok.

I now want to lay laminate, just up to the kitchen units. Therefore the area under the units will just be bare concrete. Will this be a problem as it isn't damp proofed? If it is a problem is there anything I can do as with the units in place I can't get a membrane down!

Any help much appreciated!

Surely there is a membrane under a new slab? You will see it at the edges where it laps up the wall.

There's a mass of info on laminate underlayments on google.

Lay the laminate to go just under & beyond the unit plinths, and run it into appliance spaces - note that you must be able to freely move the appliance in and out of its space.

Deciding on laminate at this late stage might raise the FFL and give trouble at door thresholds.

Hi

Yes there is a damp proof membrane under the slab but I thought I still needed a dpm on top of the slab if I was putting laminate down? Am I ok to have the bare concrete (without dpm) under the units where there is no flooring?

Thanks
