Hello,

About two years ago we had some damp proofing carried out in the house, by a company who looked professional but I am thinking different now....

We paid around £600 to have a company inject some stuff in our walls from underneath, then to replace the skirting boards, and the walls are still damp two years later.

Have we been conned here?

I will name and shame after I have had it out with the gaffer of the company. The company specialise in damp proofing. I did get a guarantee certificate for the chemical by a company called Wykamol Group. The certificate says Remedial Treatments - rising damp and contains full company details of the building company.

Can somebody advise? just to give you an example of how extreme the damp is, I can run my hands along the back wall of my terrace house, and damp will transfer onto my hands.

Those injected chemicals supposedly prevent rising damp.
Unless your problem was rising damp (it wasn't), they are useless.

To eliminate damp, you must first identify where the moisture is coming from.

The most usual causes are:
Condensation
Leaking roof / chimney / flashing etc.
Penetration through the walls due to blocked gutters, blocked drains and other external defects.

How do you stop condense if its that? i get a lot of mould around windows which i wipe of regularly so i am guessing this is related.[/img]
