Our boiler will only fire up when the switch on the back of the boiler is moved to service mode, once we switch back to run mode it goes dead, any ideas out there please?

Its the switch which says RUN, OFF and SERVICE in top right hand corner as you look at the back of the boiler

Sorry but have no idea what swith you have found. Fitted a few and still service older WB oil.

There are no original boiler switches fitted where you have one. :?

A photo might help.

With this boiler:
Run - means that the boiler is controlled by the programmer.
Off - means just that.....apart from the individual control courtesy of the frost thermostat.
Service - means that boiler engineer can override these othe functions. dead handy when the boiler is remotely sited and there is no access to the programmer.
So, if the burner lock out lamp isn't lit, it signifies a fault with programmers / room stats etc not calling for heat.
John :)
