The battery needs replacing in my danesmoor 15/19 controller. Although old, the boiler is good. I read that it is not possible to replace the battery and the whole controller needs replacing at close to £200. I also read the battery can be replaced by a competent electrician. I have had a peep and so far have not been able to determine the location of the battery. Before starting to dismantle things I thought I would ask for guidance.

A guy locally repairs circuit boards and I have it in mind to remover the controller which looks a simple task and take it to him to fit the new battery - assuming of course the battery is within the controller.

Thanks in anticipation.

The battery backup in the timer for when you have power cuts?
Boiler wont work when you have power cuts but the clock will stay on and remember the time.
If you don't get many power cuts don't worry about it.

Thanks for reply.

We do get lots of power cuts.

We do not use the timer and just turn HW or CH on when needed, most of our heating & HW are from open fires. The issue does involve power cuts. It seems when we have a power cut the timers that were in the off position, when power is restored (often by automatic trip switches in the lines a few seconds later) the programmer turns back on but goes to a default setting which is not off and the HW and CH comes on. The following is what prompted my post ...........The other day on the hottest day/night of the year we were in bed gasping for breath and nearly dying all night, windows wide open. Eventually I noticed one of the radiators was hot. Obviously we had had a power cut we did not notice and CH and HW had been on all night.

Being aware of this when we leave the house we turn the electricity off at the wall.

If anyone can address my original question I would much appreciate it.

Thanks

Mike
