DD wants to resign from the cabinet (but keep all the advantages of being in the cabinet). He wants the pay, to be part of government decision making, wants the diplomatic car, the prestige, the expenses, but he does not want to accept reassignment to another post, nor will he accept collective cabinet responsibility.
He is now threatening to resign, but only after an implementation phase, while he looks for another post.
He even wants to discuss the details of another post and complete the recruitment process during this implementation phase.
He has sent a letter of intent to resign, but has not actually resigned yet.
It appears the cabinet is split on whether to accept his letter of intent/resignation.
Some are even saying the implementation phase of his resignation should be time limited, but there is much disagreement about that.
