Can anyone help me? Just come home from work and the central heating is dead! The pilot light is on; pump not working it just appears to be electrically dead.

There is a 13 amp fuse in the kitchen, have changed that, no joy – I seem to remember something similar happening a couple of years ago, got a guy out and he spent some time on it and then removed a glass fuse somewhere in the boiler itself, he changed it and it all worked fine.

Anyone know where I should start looking for this little glass fuse. The boiler is a Myson Economist, as far as we know its been in the house for about 20 years.

Any help gratefully received.

Cheers

Unless you have electrical experience and test equipment then I dont see how you expect to be able to identify a boiler/heating fault.

Furthermore a fused spur supplying a boiler should normally be fitted with 3A fuse and not 13A !

Although quite simple and reliable, your boiler is well overdue for replacement. Pity you did not take advantage of the scrappage scheme.

Nath, no I dont have a multi meter and 'im indoors is electrically challenged! I thought it may have been somethign easy to do, looks like I am going have to bite the bullet and get someone out.

Tony - cheers, Yes I realise it needs replacing but one of those things you put off while it working ok!
