Yes I'm stating the obvious, however we need a proper LONG TERM strategy to ensure we are fully energy independent and that bills are reasonable for all. No, I don't mean we should all be paying 10p a year for 24/7 elec/gas use, however the current situation has gone well past the point of ridiculous.

Btw I don't need a lecture as to WHY things have reached this point, I'm aware of the socioeconomic factors taking us to this point. My point is we need strategies to ensure it doesn't happen again.

And has built- in regular reassessments?

From experience of working in many of these people in energy debt houses go in them august september and the heating is on full blast same as when warrants are served no one in and houses are like a green house . A lot of people need to actually think that bills need paying before using energy willy nilly .
Also what is wrong with putting in prepayment meters that will be taking the thousands they already owe back at around 5/10.

Also they cannot force fit with no one in a prepayment meter from oct to march

We were paying around £100 a month for a 3 bed house.

I think that’s around a fair price.

We are now paying £250 a month (less the £66) and weve cut right down on usage. That’s frankly far too much.

I'm not really a big fan of the Magistrate concept. The idea is supposed to be Judge and Jury rolled in to one (or 3), but often they lack the legal knowledge to properly asses the cases before them. If you have a petitioner or prosecutor who is on their game, the Magistrate will tend to believe them over defendant/LIP who's trying their best to learn as they go.

I suspect in those 496 cases, there was no representation from those who were the subject of the warrant. Don't show up and you wont get your say. I've only had a few dealings with magistrates courts myself, but in all cases the prosecutor discontinued on the basis I turned up and was clued up. They know most people wont turn up so they play the odds on not having a good case.
