We're in the process of building an extension and are looking to get the floor down. However, I wondered if anyone can decipher what the below means, we're wondering exactly where the battens spacers are positioned, between the celotex and chipboard? Is this a floating floor?

"Provide floor finish on vcl 18mm chipboard fixed to intermediate protemised batten spacers below separating floor insulation of 100mm celotex."

Thanks!

The received English in this statement is shall I call it " Ambiguous" at least

Any chance of going bac to the designer and asking for clarification?

Ken.

I have gone back to him to ask. Just wondered if anyone else had come across such vagueness :D

Thanks!

Over the years, yes i have seen odd ball wording on plans Etc.

It has happened and will continue to occur all it takes is a "distracted" technician / Architect / Engineer making a wrong call? with words, the chances are that whoever penned the phrase considered it clear at the time he / she made the statement.

A concern is that if your Designer comes back and states it is OK as it stands then ask for a sketch to explain??

Sounds like a floating floor. Chipboard is meh at the best of times. 18mm is for lofts, why has he not specced 22mm moisture resistant?
