Decking, damp proof course and air vents

Hi,
I am planning to install a free-standing deck next to my house on top of some existing gravel.

There are three layers of red engineering bricks that form the DPC showing above the level of the gravel. There are little plastic air vents between some of the bricks on the second layer.

I have read about:
1. keeping decking 150mm below the DPC
2. not blocking the air vents.

Even with small bearers ~75mm high, the deck would partially block the vents and be only about 100mm below the top of the DPC.

Shall I just keep the deck bearer nearest to the house spaced away from the house wall? If so, by how much?

Or is there a better solution?

Some other info that may be relevant with respect to the air vents: I have concrete floors downstairs and cavity wall insulation installed.

I had a very similar problem to you with mine. Having more enthusiasm then skill I left the darling approx 8mm from the house wall, level with the damp proof layer. I made sure the decking runs away from the house and ik then going to paint the wall in a brick sea lent! Combined with the gutter being in good condtion and the decking being sheltered I hope I'm covered!
