Hi - I am 'keen' to install a raised deck above existing patio, just under the sill of the doors, although it may not be possible or good practice. The doors' sill is just above the DPC and therefore will not leave a 150mm gap between top of deck and DPC. I do not want to bodge a compromise and so wonder if there are any solutions to give the general result I am seeking whilst also being sensible?
A) Can I attach a 150mm high wall plate 50mm below DPC, leaving a 10mm gap using between wall and wall plate?
B) If not, can the timber frame be installed further out from the wall (raised off ground) with a gravel or other drainage channel be left between the frame and the wall of the house? Is this acceptable practice, and if so, how wide should this channel be - 200mm?
The existing patio slopes from house towards garden and drains, therefore water should drain through gravel and underneath the frame.
I appreciate all and any responses thanks.
The image shows in pink the DPC, and in blue the height of existing patio to DPC (200mm).
(I know this is repetitive of many previous posts, just need to conclude on decision for my situation)
