Appendix 15 (BS 7671:2008) suggests that the following should not be fed from a ring final circuit:

Immersion heaters.

(Comprehensive) space heating appliances.

Cookers, ovens & hobs > 2kW.


So, looks like plug-in cookers can no longer be attached to a convenient ring socket then... :cry:
 
Is plugging it into a wall socket strictly classed as "fed from" - surely if it is fitted with a plugtop you can plug it in where you like?
 
I agree with you on that one Sean. I'm wondering if what the 17th is saying is that these appliances should have their own dedicated circuits rather than using Spurs (fused un fused)

What do you think.

A plug top simply indictes that an appliance can be plugged in anywhere (within reason)

I really must buy my copy of the 17th this week :!:
