If you order two and a half packs of bricks from a builders merchant to be delivered, the lorry usually has a crane to offload full packs of bricks.

I'm curious as to how the builders merchants generate and deliver a half pack of bricks.

Do they open the pack remove half the bricks and then
1. use a tool to strap the pack back up using some sort of tool or
2. place the bricks onto a pallet and deliver the pallet holding half the bricks in a pack or
3. use some other method

Bricks are banded into either 4 or 5 bands.

They normally split the wrapping band and fork out the amount you need then wrap it all in cling film. It is either craned onto or palleted onto the lorry. He then uses his straps or grab to off load.

Loose bricks are either plonked on top of the banded bricks and wrapped or palleted with the cement etc.
