Denmark plug to U.K. Wiring

Hi, can anyone help me. I have received a laser light that had a danish plug which I have removed and tried to use a uk plug. The wires seem finer than usual and are a pale red and black. I have assumed the pale red goes to the right and the black to the left (live) but nothing is happening.

Can anybody let me know if there is something to make this work?

The description of the cable suggests ELV!

It does indeed. Denmark are a member of CENELEC so it should be brown and blue if low voltage

I suspect nothing will happen ever again if 230v has been applied to a ELV device

I was going by, thinner than normal and pale red.

It came wired to a X10 Automation timer that I got from letsautomate.com, though the item in question is no longer sold.

Can't remember for sure as them item has long gone, but i think maybe South Africa. Don't know why I have that feeling though.

Was it a plug or a "Plug top" power module producing Extra Low Voltage for the lamp. Apicture of the plug you removed would help to decide which.
