Hello,
I've been visiting this forum for a good few years and have often found the answer to my questions but I'm now looking for some help.
I'm a fairly competent DIYer but I'm after some plumbing advice. Our house is about 18 years old and has the original pressurised hot water system. I've fixed the gas boiler (Ideal Elan 2) a few times over the last few years but recently it has started short cycling when there is demand for hot water. This had been disguised by the central heating demand but now it's got warmer its' more obvious. As we live in a hard water area I'm wondering if the heat exchanger in the hot water tank is scaled up and the heat isn't getting dumped efficiently?
So, from reading other posts on this forum I'm wondering if I should try to clean the hot water tank (and specifically the heat exchanger in it) with Fernox DS3?
Suggestions gratefully received.
Cheers,
Andy.
