dewalt chop saw conversion?

hi all,

after a bit of advice if anyone could help.

my trusty 240v dewalt dw708 type 1 chopsaw has died on me iv tried to source a replacement armature and field aas they are the faulty parts but found they are discontinued.
i can however buy 110v armature and field, is it a possible conversion? obviously i would change the plug to 110v as well. the parts lists i have checked show all the same parts irrespective of voltage except armature and shield.

if it can be done i could do it myslf easily and for less than £130. much cheaper than a replacement saw

any advice appreciated, cheers

I can't see why not - assuming you have a 110v transformer, of course! Just check the capacitor value across the switch, if there is one.

Flex might conceivably need to be thicker.

Switch is probably different on 110 volt because of the higher amperage
