I'm finding it difficult to work out the difference between the vast array of diamond blades used in concrete and brick cutting. Some appear to be continuous circumference while others are segmented - what's the difference.
As a DIY'er I would like to buy one for occasional use, that could cover most situations ie. patio slabs, bricks and widening cracks in a garden path for mortaring say.
Could you suggest one for 125mm grinder that would fit the bill. Thanks

I found this you tube video helpful in understanding the differences.

Looks like a segmented diamond disc for general purpose use, with a specialist blade for cutting/grinding metal.

Blup

If you see one on sale in Aldi or Lidl, get it, it will be fine. Or Blue Spot from Amazon or Ebay.

If you want to pay a bit more I can recommend the bosch universal diamond disks
( the yellow ones)

If you want to cut engineering bricks and similar hard materials you will need a higher spec one - usually described by proper manufacturers as a "turbo" blade - although no doubt the Chinese will put the label on any old crap.

With 125mm grinder you'll have no chance against a garden slab.
You need a 9" for that and a good blade.
Hitachi/hikoki have lasted me hundreds of cuts.

I've been getting videos in my feeds lately for "composite" discs for multi material cutting. They have teeth, cooling holes for dry cutting and look impressive in the videos  . They are around £15 for two from the usual places.

I just typed into ebay bosch universal diamond disk 125 and it was the first that popped up.
